Functionality Update

June 10th, 2009

Hi Everyone,

Baz made it backly safely from his travels so we updated the points for Seelar, updated the Andre Botha classification, and cleaned up a few other bugs on the site. Background changes are now $250 fantasy dollars.

We’ve also changed things so that the emails you get from us about wall posts, or direct messages will include the message content in the email. So that should save you all some time.

Finally, if you click on someone’s minifeed and it shows that they have “posted on the Cricket.com” wall, you can click directly on the “posted” link and see exactly what it was that they wrote. This should make it easier for everyone to track all the conversations going on on the site.

As usual thank you for all the feedback and keep it coming!

Congratulations and Thank You

What a competition we’ve had this IPL!

There were:

  • 62,000 teams created
  • 1.6 million substitutions
  • 8,700 leagues created
  • 10 million pageviews
  • 1.3 million visits

And so we want to thank all of you that helped make our site successful over the past 5 weeks. It’s been really fun interacting and competing with all of you.

And, we want to extend a congratulations to Grant Hallam, winner of the overall competition with his Flip Floppers and grand prize of a signed match shirt by the winning Deccan Chargers team. He faced some stiff competition from Rajiv Ranjan and Sameer, who also deserve congratulations for putting up such an awesome fight til the death.

And the weekly winners deserve a mention too, they are: RajivPiyushShyamAni and Vijayanand. They will all be receiving a signed cricket ball as their prize.

Congratulations and Thank You

The T20 World Cup

There’s no time to rest in the hectic world of cricket, as the T20 World Cup starts on June 6th. Go on, go ahead and make your team now.

This competition will run using the international teams, with the same points scoring system as we had for the IPL tournament. If you create your team before June 4, we will award you an extra $500 in fantasy dollars.

The grand prize for this will be two return tickets to a city of your choice from the winning country, or a cash equivalent of $2,000 with $250 and $100 for second and third place.

Oh and the admins will be competing hard for this tournament, we have our own in house sweepstake going on, so watch out!

Fake IPL Player

May 13th, 2009

Most of you are probably aware of this blog, but in case you haven’t heard of it yet, be sure to check the Fake IPL Player blog.

I think it’s hilarious and very well written!

Who do you think this player actually is?

It may help to know who the nicknames refer to, and for a funny overview, read this great Guardian overview written by Lawrence Booth.

The point of this blog

May 11th, 2009

Hello fantasy players,

We’ll be using this blog to tell you guys about changes we make to the site, and explain new features on the site in a bit more detail.

Hopefully you can leave comments here for us as well.

When we post to the main wall it gets covered really quickly and so not everyone gets to see what we write.

That and other things we think are worth writing about.
